This is a family-slanted yarn about an African kid who bonds from birth with a lion cub. Two African children, Oule and Lena are enslaved, sold to a desert prince and held in his walled palace. Via a long flashback narrated by Lena, we learn of Oule's childhood in Pama village. He became inseparable from a lion, Sirga, born the same day he was , as well as becoming close friends with all members of the animal kingdom, from snakes and scorpions to antelopes and bees. He also communicated with trees, wind and fire.

The narrative comes full circle 45 minutes later when evil horsemen descend on the village, slaughter the adults and enslave the children. Oule, who can also roar like a lion, uses his special powers to escape from bondage.Tricks include summoning a swarm of bees to heal his festering shoulder wound , and an impressive desert tornado to rescue Lena.
Cast: Mathurin Sinze and Sophie-Veronique Toue Tagbe

Dir: Patrick Grandperret.

Messaoud is a nine-year-old boy of Algerian descent living in Paris in the early Sixties. When his mother falls ill, his father is forced to place him with a host family. With the war in Algeria at a critical point and anti-Algerian sentiment at its worst, his host mother Gisèle fears for the little boy and hides his identity. Messaoud becomes Michel, blond and catholic. All is well until his secret is revealed…

The grandson of traveling poet Blaise Cendrars, writer/director Thomas Gilou makes documentaries and feature-films about cross-cultural identities. After depicting French-Africans in Black mic-mac (1986) and the French-Arabic community in Raï (1995), he portrayed the French-Jewish community in Would I Lie to You? (1997), a film which has become one of France’s biggest hits in the past 10 years. Michou d’Auber is based on the true story of Messaoud Hattou, who co-wrote the script. Two of French cinema’s biggest stars, Nathalie Baye and Gérard Depardieu, are reunited on screen as Michou’s foster parents.

Gérard Depardieu (Georges), Nathalie Baye (Gisèle), Mathieu Amalric (Jacques), Samy Seghir (Michou), Medy Kerouani (Abdel), Fellag (Akli)

Dir. Thomas Gilou
